The MU-2000 is designed to fulfill the requirements for continuous on-line monitoring of industrial process streams. This new product was targeted to address the increasing market demands in the natural gas processing areas. The analyzer is composed of a UV light source, compact diode array based spectrometer, panel mount computer, and I/O module and sample cell. The spectrometer operating parameters, signal processing, sample system operation and signal output and input are all processed through the PC.
The MU-2000 contains no moving parts and its components can be easily replaced with minimal down time. The analyzer is connected to a flow cell or an insertion probe with a pair of fiber optic cables. The length of the flow cell can be from a few mm to one meter long, depending on the application. Temperature and pressure are also measured for gaseous samples, allowing data to be temperature and pressure compensated.
The components of the analyzer are assembled in an enclosure for weather protection and the enclosure can be purged to meet hazardous area classifications requirements. The I/O modules are used to control the sample system operation and manage the input/output signals.

Depending on the application, either a flow cell or an insertion probe is used to allow the UV light to interact with the sample. The linear array spectrometer is useful for UV range at 230-600 nm. It collects the entire spectrum of the wavelength absorbed by the components of interest. By combining the superior optical bench and advanced mathematical data manipulation techniques in its chemometrics software, the MU-2000 provides accurate and reliable concentration data measurements.
The analyzer data are displayed on the analyzer computer screen and also sent to the distribution control system (DCS) in various output formats, such as 4-20 mA and Modbus communications protocol.
The analyzer output includes up to 10 isolated 4-20 mA analog outputs and a general alarm output. It can be equipped with additional I/O and relay modules, which can be configured at the factory for various special application needs. It can be programmed to automatically switch valves to clean the flow cell or probe, or to automatically adjust the baseline on a regular basis.
