Digital Chart Recorder

The DX200 is a DAQSTATION that displays real-time measured data on a color LCD and saves data on a 3.5-inch disk. Network connection via Ethernet enables notification by e-mail and the ability to monitor the system from a web site, as well as transfering files through FTP. Communication with FOUNDATION through Fieldbus and Modbus is also possible.

The DX200 comes in 4, 8, 10, 20, or 30 -channel models and the input signal, DC voltage, thermocouple, resistance temperature detector, or contact signal can be set to each channel. Data saved to a 3.5 disk can be converted to Lotus 1-2-3, Excel, or ASCII file formats. The included viewer software allows display and printout of waveforms.

Moisture Analyzer

The MAC 155 In-situ Moisture Analyzer is designed to continuously monitor emission stack gases. It is designed to meet EPA and local regulatory requirements for stack gas moisture measurements.

The patented solid state design has been proven in hundreds of industrial process control applications. The moisture sensor is extremely rugged and requires no chemicals, compressed air, optics, or mirrors. The % moisture by volume is measured using a proprietary high temperature capacitive sensor that responds to water vapor pressure in the presence of other gasses. The probe is protected from particulates by a 10 micron stainless steel sintered filter element that is cleanable and replaceable.

The MAC 155 Moisture Analyzer is provided with automatic two point calibration check. The on-board calibration system can challenge the sensor with a controlled water vapor sample. An internal tank holds enough water to generate vapor samples for one year of daily calibration checks. The MAC 155 Controller automatically sequences the daily calibration check process.

DURAG D-R 290 Opacity and Dust Concentration Monitor

HORIBA offers Opacity and Dust Concentration Monitoris used for continuous opacity or dust monitoring of flue gas in stacks and ductwork. According to TA Luft and 13. and 27. BlmSchV the D-R 290 is suitable for systems firing coal, fuel oil or a mixture of fuels converter plants, asphalt mixing plants and cement production plants any other type of plant requiring quantitative monitoring of opacity or dust concentrations. Measured results can be displayed as opacity or optical density

The photoelectric measurement of the transmission T (=irradiation capability) is based on the determination of the
attenuation of light sent through a gas containing dust particles. Several systems are implementing a narrow-band LED light source with a spectral response between 500 and 600 nm using the light which is directly emitted from the LED. Therefore the response is temperature dependent.

The DURAG Super Wide Band Diode SWBD, with a spectral response substantially enlarged to 400 - 700 nm, results in a more stable measuring system with results that are more constant. A blue Gallium Nitrite diode in connection with a fluorescent layer produces a white light, which contains the broad band of wavelengths associated with the luminescence material as well as the emission band of a normal light emitting diode. From the Transmission, the dust load can be displayed either as Opacity O or as Extinction (optical density) E.

The Opacity can be compared with the attenuation of light and shows the percentage of absorbed light. The Opacity measurement is used mostly in the USA and Asia. The advantage of Opacity is that the measuring devices must not be calibrated. The disadvantage is the dependency of the measuring result from the measuring location. Although there is a re-calculation from the monitor location to the stack emission outlet, the influences from the color, the shapeand the surface structure of the particles are not taken into account. Due to the non-linear relationship between the dust load and the opacity, the opacity is increased by only approx. 15% when doubling the dust load in the upper measuring range.

The Extinction (optical density) runs linear to the dust load due to taking the logarithm: Doubling the dust amount results in the display of the unit doubling. Extinction is used in European countries and increasingly also in Asia. By calibrating the measuring location (not the measuring device) according to VDI 2066 or EPA CFR 40 Part60 #5, an exact display of the dust load in mg/m³ is achieved. The site depending extinction coefficient k is defined by gravimetric comparative measurements. According to the smallest quadratic error from at least 15 single measurements, the calibration curve is calculated for the measuring location. Under normal operating conditions we have to assume that the same dust load can lead to different readings depending on grain size and flow distribution. Therefore it is not sufficient to have a calibration curve , but also uncertainty ranges Y1,Y2 and Y3,Y4 have to be considered.

CEMS Shelter Options

Tiedown to Foundation

Foundation
The design and construction of the shelter foundation is outside the scope of our work, and dependent on site specific conditions.  We recommend that the purchaser consult with an appropriate design professional to assure that the proper site conditions are available when the shelter is installed.  The dead load (empty weight of shelter and factory installed equipment) is noted on the dataplate.

Tiedown Hardware

To facilitate the connection of the shelter to a foundation pad or continuous footing, a pre-engineered tiedown kit (SA-0039A) is available as an option.  This kit utilized the standard lifting/tiedown fittings on the shelter to connect to anchor or expansion bolts installed in the foundation by others.  If ordered with the shelter, and installation note and footprint drawing indication anchor location will be included in the manual documentation.

Electrical System

If your shelter has been ordered in a  “prewired” configuration it will be provided with a power distribution system consisting of the following major components:

  • Load center (breaker panel), configuration a per order
  • Interior surface mounted wireways and/or conduits-no hidden wiring
  • Convenience receptacles, NEMA 5-20 specification grade
  • Overhead fluorescent lighting, surface mounted with wraparound diffuser.  The ballast cover, lamps and diffuser are shipped uninstalled to prevent shipping damage.

The power distribution system is fully wired to NEC standard and has been dielectric and functionally tested.

Connection To The Electrical Supply

Connection to the electrical supply can be made easily by qualified licensed electrician.

An internally threaded flange is located directly behind the load center in the exterior wall.  This flange will be 2” NPTF threaded, unless otherwise ordered.  The shelter is shipped with a temporary sealing plug installed in the flange. Any standard electrical conduit or conduit fitting can be attached to the inlet flange.  By using a conduit fitting such as an LB, power can be provided from overhead or underground supply. Products ordered with additional power entry features (disconnect switches, transformers, etc.) may incorporate alternate power entry devices.

NH3 Converter Probe

For measuring NH3 in a gas stream, Horiba converts NH3 to NO at the measurement point using an NH3 converter probe.  The M&C SP2000H series heated filter probe platform provides many available options which can be selected as needed to configure the probe head for specific applications. The SP2000H320/CG-5 configuration provides a high filter element operating setpoint capability of 320°C to insure the probe head is held above ammonia salt dropout temperatures which insures accuracy in ammonia measurement. This model also includes the CG-5 gas converter module which is mounted directly into the probe assembly. For ammonia applications, the CG-5 includes high temperature packing for the thermal conversion of ammonia to NOX. The typical probe configuration provides a converted and unconverted sample stream, allowing determination in the HORIBA analyzer of ammonia by differential NOX measurement. The CG-5 thermal converter is operated at setpoints up to 700°C to insure a high conversion of ammonia. A calibration port is standard in the SP2000H series of probe heads. The port allows calibration gas directly into the heated filter chamber. The blowback option is available for applications where periodic dust clearing or probe head flushing is needed. The blowback option provides a wide bore check valve and a port into the probe head filter chamber. A three-mode controller maintains the probe head temperature.  The input to the controller is a K-type thermocouple.  The temperature controller can be mounted on the probe head or remotely at the CEMS.  A second type K thermocouple is provided in the CG-5 Converter.
